“My 12-year-old daughter Leandra has delays in her speech, gross and fine motor skills. When she first came to Quest 4 years ago, Le tired easily. She liked activities with her older sister like walking the dog, but couldn't keep pace or walk a full block. She was unable to sit in the middle of the chair without leaning on the table or placing a foot on the floor for support. She had difficulty riding her tricycle and tended to hang back from playground activities. Since working with the therapists and horses at Quest, Le has made significant (and magnificent!) gains. She sits independently at the table, walks with improved endurance, and is more energetic on the playground. Because of her increased balance and coordination, Le is now riding a scooter and bike with training wheels. One of the extra benefits of Le's sessions at Quest has been the marked increase in her communication skills. Le now greets staff by name and utter words of encouragement to her fellow-riders. Quest has helped Le become more independent and secure in her abilities. To this day, Le's energy, confidence and self-esteem continue to grow. Her face lights up every time she visits Quest and sees her friends, the volunteers and horses that make up her team. “ --John Hatch, Quest |
